My Absolute Fave Face Masks That Are Worth The Splurge

Every Sunday, I religiously do a face and hair mask. I try to do a sheet mask, but to be honest, you can’t really do much when you have a wet slimy piece of paper on your face. Move 5 cm and the whole thing is off. That’s why I’m more of a face mask kind of girl. I wear liquid foundation about 5 days out of the week. Although I double cleanse my face every single night, I still need a clarifying mask to clean out my pores. Below are my top picks.

My absolute favorite mask to use when my skin is going crazy and breaking out like there’s no tomorrow is Peter Thomas Roth’s sulfur masque. Since it is a sulfur mask, the smell is pretty strong. I usually use it as a spot treatment. I put a little bit on a pimple and go to be with it. I swear this stuff dries out pimples. It has the consistency of clay so sometimes you need to add a bit of water. This mask retails for $47 at Sephora. The Therapeutic Sulfur Masque is a medicated formula with maximum strength 10% sulfur, purifying kaolin, and bentonite clays to dry and clear acne blemishes and help prevent their return. Designed to exfoliate dead skin cells, absorb excess oil, and help purify clogged pores, it soothes and calms with aloe vera.

Next mask is also from Peter Thomas Roth, it’s his purifying Irish Moor Mud . This ultra-hydrating mask infuses skin with moisture, vitamins, essential minerals, and potent antioxidant benefits. With the highest level of organic content in the world, 9,000 year-old black moor Mud is harvested by hand from the Irish countryside and combined with hijiki seaweed, volcanic ash, and activated charcoal for powerful cleansing while helping to minimize the appearance of pore size, fine lines, and wrinkles. Your skin is left looking pure, fresh, hydrated, and radiant. This mask is more expensive than the sulfur mask at $58. I like this one because it’s great for sensitive skin. I got this mask instead of the Glam Glow one.

The next mask is pretty pricey. To be completely transparent, I only buy this mask when it’s a Sephora sale event because it’s hella expensive. Fresh Black Tea Firming Overnight Mask is an intensely moisturizing overnight treatment that visibly firms and redefines the skin contours to achieve a lifted, firmer look by morning.  A proprietary complex of kombucha (black tea ferment), black tea extract, blackberry leaf extract, and lychee seed extract is proven to inhibit damaging free radicals and helps improve the appearance of skin elasticity. The overnight mask also features belle de nuit extract to soothe and rebalance the skin, peptides to help firm the skin and visibly defy the signs of gravity, and hyaluronic acid to attract and maintain moisture to enhance suppleness.  I am addicted to the smell of this mask. It can be a bit strong. It’s hard to describe the scent but I really like it.  It really works too! I use this when my skin is starting to look dull. In the morning, you skin will look refreshed! As it should since it’s $92.

The next mask legit smells like a jolly rancher. I literally waited on a wait list for it. It’s Glow Recipe’s watermelon sleep mask. I like how it applies like a water gel like product. So you feel it absorb into your skin. This luxuriously bouncy, breathable sleeping mask refreshingly hydrates, smooths, and perfects skin overnight with a revolutionary pillow-proof, transfer-proof formula. The oil-free, lightweight, glow-boosting hybrid is formulated with ultra-soothing watermelon extract, hydrating hyaluronic acid, and gentle AHAs that work while you sleep to tone and clarify roughened, dull complexions. AHAs smooth the surface of the skin by banishing dead, rough surface cells, clearing the path for ultra-effective, lasting hydration, while hyaluronic acid binds moisture to the skin for an incredibly nourished complexion. Skin is baby-soft and bright in the morning, effortlessly.

And last but not least, is my absolute favorite. This is the one I use the most frequently because it literally sucks out the gross stuff out of my pores. It’s from Fresh (duh!). It’s the Fresh Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask. Perfect for all skin types, Umbrian Clay is a gentle, three-in-one treatment that can also be used as a daily deep cleanser or to minimize imperfections. This instant purifying face mask is proven to significantly reduce the appearance of pores and mattify without drying out skin, revealing a balanced, healthy-looking complexion.

Umbrian clay, Fresh’s proprietary ingredient, has a high mineral content that works to balance, purify, and clarify the complexion. Sandalwood oil is known for its astringent properties and helps to calm the skin, while chamomile flower and lavender water are notable for their soothing properties.
